An award for Kent awards scheme?

March, 2018

The Kent Press & Broadcast Awards (KPBA), a not-for-profit scheme established by Tunbridge Wells-based PR agency Maxim, has been shortlisted for a national award.

KPBA is a finalist in the 'Best New Awards Event' category of the Awards Awards, which celebrates the very best of the awards industry. Judges are looking for innovation, expertise and success in all areas for events launched since 2012.

Maxim launched KPBA in 2015 to celebrate and reward regional and local journalism. This year's awards ceremony, which will be hosted by BBC News' Simon McCoy and held at the Spitfire Ground, Canterbury, will be the fourth.

Rachel Knight, account director at Maxim, said: "We work really hard to make KPBA a success for everyone involved so we are delighted to be recognised by the industry. We were able to supply a huge amount of positive feedback from entrants, sponsors and judges as part of our entry so we are very grateful to everyone who has ever taken the time to tell us what KPBA means to them."

Judging criteria

This 'Best New Awards Event' will be given to the most successful event from the perspectives of all parties involved. The Awards Awards judges are looking for: a strong judging panel and a rigorous judging process; well thought out and appropriate categories; creativity and effectiveness in marketing the event; positive feedback from attendees and sponsors; novelty and innovation at the ceremony itself; and success in terms of finances and the level of attendance.

Rachel continued: "Entries are now open for KPBA, the judges are preparing themselves and we at Maxim are putting our event management skills to the test. Running the scheme is a year-round job but we couldn't do it without the support of the sponsors, the help of our eight independent judges and, of course, everyone who takes the time to enter. There are still a couple of sponsorship opportunities available so do get in touch if you'd like to support our local media."

The Awards Awards winners will be announced at the Waldorf Hilton in London on 27 April.
