Launch of The Country Tour initiative

On this day: 2 October 2007

Sometimes projects stay around for longer than expected. Back in 2007, few people would have thought that the ‘brown signs’ directing residents  around four country trails across Kent would still be in place today.

Working for Kent Tourism, part of Kent County Council and the forerunner to Visit Kent, Maxim was at the heart of The Country Tour initiative.

The routes, identified by the brown tourist signs which featured either an oast house, the Invicta horse, bullrushes or an apple tree, were safety checked by KCC Highways & Transportation to ensure they were safe for vehicles and coaches.

A brochure, produced in partnership with Shepherd Neame, highlighted the signposted routes. They were launched on this day in 2007.
