Launch of Locate in Kent

On this day: 18 July 1997

Given Maxim’s heritage, with founder Andrew Metcalf having been ex-Economic Development at Kent County Council (KCC), it’s not surprising that we have been involved with the launch of a number of the county’s business support agencies – and Locate in Kent was one of them.

Born out of Kent Enterprise Office and funded by KCC and the development community, Locate in Kent is tasked with attracting overseas foreign direct investment and supporting the growth of existing internationally-owned businesses in the county.

A decade after it was founded, Locate in Kent had assisted 403 companies and created 18,262 direct jobs, of which nearly half were knowledge-based. A further 7,087 indirect jobs had been created through suppliers and multipliers and 7,850 jobs retained. A grand total of more than 33,000 jobs.

Pictured below is the Locate in Kent team in 2002, celebrating the creation of 1,913 jobs that year.
