Royal Engineers at Rochester Bridge

On this day: 26 September 2017

PR is rumoured to be all nights out and glamorous parties, but on this day in 2017 Erica’s evening out involved dressing up in a high visibility jacket and a blue hard hat.

The Royal Engineers were hosting a training exercise on Rochester Bridge and Erica was there to support the Rochester Bridge Trust.

The project involved a large group of soldiers climbing up and over the bridge in a simulation demolition exercise while one lane of the crossing was closed for maintenance activities.

On the surface, this was a spectacular show as members of the public came along to watch the activities, however it was important to also get the message across that engineering activities were taking place and traffic was able to continue flowing.

The pictures spoke for themselves with military training shared alongside cleaning and maintenance activities, and the story being picked up locally and across the country.
