Manston Green - supporting Thanet’s future prosperity
Putting Manston Green on track
Brief
- To engage with the local residents and stakeholders, and promote Manston Green, which developers Cogent Land LLP say would improve Thanet’s rail and road connectivity while creating a new community on the edge of Ramsgate.
- The Manston Green proposals include a phased residential development of 800 new homes with primary school and community facilities, on land close to Manston Airport, alongside planned road improvements on the heavily congestion Haine Road. The development would also facilitate the delivery of Thanet Parkway station, a park and ride facility, and improved public transport provision.
Results and highlights
- Working closely with the project team, Maxim has implemented a community engagement programme, including briefing key stakeholders, such as Thanet District Council, Kent County Council, Locate in Kent, chambers of commerce, community groups, and the local MPs for the area.
- Briefings have focused on key themes such as the area’s improving economic circumstances, the need for additional homes, and improvements to the road and public transport.
- Maxim has also created a project website - www.manston-green.co.uk - distributed a flyer to 5,000 households, advertised a public exhibition, and set up a project office to handle email and telephone enquiries from the general public.
- Maxim recently organised a public exhibition to showcase the Manston Green plans and welcomed more than 300 local residents and councillors, ahead of the submission of a planning application.
- The application was approved by Thanet District Council.
