Brief

  • Gallagher Group, headquartered in Maidstone, is one of Kent’s leading building, civil engineering, aggregates and property development companies.
  • As a major employer, and due to its business activities, the company is highly visible to the local community. As a result there is a need to ensure the group’s operations, its environmental commitment and community involvement are fully understood.
  • Maxim was appointed to raise the profile of the individual elements of the business and communicate the group’s activities to the residents of Kent via the media.

Results and highlights

  • Working closely with the senior management team, Maxim has successfully secured positive awareness of the group’s activities, including the quarrying and aggregate businesses. Coverage has been achieved on the region’s television channels and county’s radio stations, and also in newspapers and the business press.
  • Media activity has focused on the group’s construction projects, its investment in plant and machinery, and the fact its Hermitage Quarry is the only source of building-quality Kentish Ragstone for the construction industry and conservation of historic buildings. Maxim has also promoted its commercial property development activities.
  • Specific activity was undertaken during the planning inquiry into the proposed extension of the quarry. Maxim has also showcased the group’s remediation activities and broader commitment to the environment. The work highlighted the role of the group in the economic success of Maidstone, and beyond. Hermitage Quarry was recently approved by Secretary of State, Eric Pickles.
  • Recent projects include providing community engagement and media relations support for Gallagher’s investment at Waterside Park and PR support for the English Care Village development at Leeds, near Maidstone
